Better Foliage mod logo download
Looking for a Better Foliage mod logo download for a modpack page, video thumbnail or server list? You can use this site's logo files below. They show a lush, Better-Foliage-style tree.
These are this fan site's logo files, not the mod author's official artwork. The official project icon is shown on the Better Foliage CurseForge page.
Better Foliage Texture Pack
Better Foliage is a mod, not a texture pack or resource pack. A texture pack only swaps images; Better Foliage adds new geometry (leaf puffs, grass blades, round logs) and particles, which needs code running through Forge, Fabric or NeoForge. There is no official “Better Foliage Texture Pack”.
What you can do instead:
- Install the mod itself (see the versions on this page).
- On newer versions, Better Foliage Renewed loads its models through resource-pack files, so you can customise or disable a block's effect by overriding that block's blockstate file with the vanilla one in your own resource pack.
- Some other creators publish “bushy leaves” style resource packs. They are separate projects with their own look and are not Better Foliage.
Better Foliage NeoForge
The original Better Foliage was never built for NeoForge (its last update was in 2021, before NeoForge existed). For a Better Foliage NeoForge setup, use Better Foliage Renewed: it lists NeoForge builds for 1.20.1–1.20.2, and from 1.21 onward NeoForge is its only supported loader.
Better Foliage Fabric
The original mod does have Better Foliage Fabric builds, for 1.14.4, 1.15.2 and 1.16.5. On CurseForge they are tagged “Beta” (Forge builds are tagged “Release”) so the two are easy to tell apart. They need Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin; the config screen is already bundled.
There is no Better Foliage for Fabric on 1.17 or newer. Better Foliage Renewed is Forge/NeoForge only and its author says it will not get a Fabric port, because it relies on a Forge model API. For grass effects on modern Fabric, the Renewed author points players to LambdaBetterGrass (grass only — not a full replacement).
Better Foliage 1.12.2
Better Foliage 1.12.2 is one of the most-used versions and a staple of 1.12.2 modpacks. Use the original mod's Forge 1.12.2 build and install Forgelin next to it — without Forgelin the game will crash on start.
Alternative: RLFoliage, a Java rewrite fork of Better Foliage for 1.12.2 focused on performance and memory use. It drops the round-logs feature and requires FermiumBooter.
Better Foliage 1.20.1
The original Better Foliage stops at 1.16.5, so there is no original Better Foliage 1.20.1 file — be careful of sites claiming otherwise. You have two real options:
- Better Foliage Renewed for 1.20.1 — available for Forge and NeoForge, no extra library.
- RLFoliage (Ported) — an unofficial Forge 1.20.1 continuation of RLFoliage with an in-game config screen.
Better Foliage Renewed
Better Foliage Renewed by EERussianguy is a port of octarine_noise's original idea to modern Minecraft, covering 1.16 through 1.21.1. It is client-side only, MIT-licensed and has no dependencies.
- Loaders: Forge (up to 1.20.x) and NeoForge (1.20.x and the only loader for 1.21+).
- Features: better grass, snow, podzol and mycelium; leaves and leaf particles; cacti; lily pads; rising souls.
- Built-in compatibility for Atmospheric, Bayou Blues, Biomes O' Plenty, Caves and Cliffs and Quark.
- Performance is described by its author as comparable to vanilla; leaves may lag on slow PCs, mainly with shaders.
Better Foliage Bedrock
There is no Better Foliage for Bedrock Edition (Windows 10/11 Bedrock, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, iOS or Android). Better Foliage is a Java mod that runs through Java mod loaders, and Bedrock cannot load Java mods.
If you play Bedrock, the closest you can get is a resource pack or add-on from another creator that imitates bushier leaves. Those are unrelated projects — check reviews and only download from trusted marketplaces. Any site offering a “Better Foliage .mcaddon” is not offering the real mod.

Troubleshooting
The game crashes on start
Almost always a missing Kotlin library (see the table above) or a jar for the wrong Minecraft version. Read the crash report — it usually names the missing mod.
Nothing changed in my world
Check you launched the Forge/Fabric profile, not vanilla. Then open the mod's settings and confirm the effects are enabled. Leaf effects may not show on the “Fast” graphics setting.
I can't open the settings screen
On Forge 1.14 and newer, install Cloth Config for the config GUI. On Fabric it is bundled.
Low FPS
Turn off the heaviest effects (leaf puffs, falling leaves) first, lower render distance, or try a lighter shader pack.
Leaves or grass look wrong with another mod
Some mods that render their own blocks may clash. Report bugs to the mod's issue tracker on GitHub, not to this fan site.
The original config changes don't apply after updating
Delete the old BetterFoliage config file in your config folder and let the mod generate a fresh one (back up your settings first).
